Our main project this fall/winter was to redo the collection system for our 20 acre woods on 310th Ave. The current system was installed about 20 years ago and was not up to modern standards for high vacuum sap collection. Sap collection had gradually decreased over the years with last season output less than a quart of syrup per tap. During August and September we removed all existing mainlines, lateral lines and drops. Starting in October we hired Roth Sugarbush to install all new lines and drops for a quoted price of about $15,000. . Lines/drop installation was completed 12/17. Mainline Connections to the sap collection shed will be done at a later date. We are hoping to increase syrup production to 1 gallon of syup per tap for the 1st year - The first year of using a new system has the highest potential for increased production since there are no air leaks and no bacteria in the lines.
