I asked Dianne Harmon Marier (uncle Joe harmon’s youngest living child) about some history of the old sap shed in the woods specifically what year it was built……her response follows….(she mentions her grandpa Fred Harmon but she meant Fred Bauer, Grandma Radle’s dad)

Nancy Weiss Saueressig

The year l believe was1921. I will check with Marsha Schlosser to make sure. My folks were married 11/26/1919. So l am sure my Dad built it with the help of Grandpa Nick. At one time the year was painted on the front above the door as you went in. Don't know if Grandpa Nick made syrup or not. I never knew him as he was killed before l was born. He used to paint barns and would always pound a nail in the siding to hold a hand on. This time it gave way and he fell to the ground and broke his neck. My grandmother had leukemia and l never knew her and my grandpa Fred Harmon died of a tumor on his brain and l never knew him. Grandma Anna Bauer was a blessing. After Grandpa Fred's death she would come and spend a mother at each of her kids homes. Oh we just loved it when she came. She was always so cheerful and full of so much love. She came to America with her parents and two sisters from Austria. She always braided her hair in a bun and every night we would watch her take the hair pins out of the bun and let it down and brush her beautiful hair. Oh l loved her so much and my mother was so like her. I better stop and go to bed but l love sharing these stories.
